What everyone can agree on is that there are definitely more seed and early stage funds now than ever before, and more people willing to give money to young companies looking to make it big. Jalak Jobanputra is a key member of that investment community, and was previously the director of mobile investments in emerging markets for the Omidyar Network.
“As we see proliferation of devices and machines, and distributed computing architecture, we are going to have huge data analytics needs. When I launched Future/Perfect Ventures, the thesis was around what I call “interpretive intelligence,” making data more useful for individuals and businesses,” says Jobanputra.
Jalak’s investment career has always benefited the mobile field – from the first wave of global wireless licenses in 1994 to Blocksteam, whose work directly benefits financial technology by building the infrastructure to process instant transactions. She looks for a founding team with a passion for their work. They must be dedicated to the solution they have created for the problem they are solving, and be prepared for some unpredictable occurrences along the way.
